| This website provides an online portfolio of my coursework for The University of Georgia Education Specialist degree program in Instructional Technology for School Library Media. Because I was already certified and have many years of experience, my path was slightly different from that of my Cohort 7 classmates, and I was not required to do all of the "Big 8 assignments." Links have been provided below for the Big 8 assignments that were completed.

While my classmates were creating Program Development and Evaluation Plans and their Reading and Literacy Projects, I was a teaching assistant in EDIT 6300. I assisted Dr. Fitzgerald in grading portions of these projects and created and delivered a Back to School PowerPoint presentation and checklist for the class as well as a presentation on my student run, morning news broadcast (available in WebCT).
Instead of completing a sample order in EDIT 6340, I developed a presentation for the class on Spending Media Funds, a task I have undertaken for twenty-five years.
My applied project evaluated the effects of a readers’ advisory tool that I developed, a blog featuring book recommendations by students and faculty, on the book selections and book selection strategies of fourth and fifth graders at South Jackson Elementary School.
I completed an internship for certification as Media Specialist with Ms. Bettye Stroud at Barnett Shoals Elementary School in Athens-Clarke County, GA in 1984 during my Masters program at The University of Georgia in Educational Media/Library Education.
I successfully passed the Georgia Teacher Certification Test for Media Specialists on May 19, 1984.
I have been the Media Specialist at South Jackson Elementary School in Jackson County, Georgia since August 1984 where I have been an active member of our instructional team. I have served as chairperson for our leadership council and our school's S.A.C.S. accreditation committee, and I was chosen as 1995 Jackson County Teacher of the Year by my colleagues.
